Steamboat Springs Snow flurries hitting Routt County today are expected to stick to higher elevations overnight and continue through late Thursday, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service in Grand Junction issued only a hazardous weather outlook — a relatively mild warning of upcoming weather conditions — for the Upper Yampa River Basin on Wednesday morning.
“During the afternoon and through the night snow will be limited to the northern and central Colorado mountains…mainly near the divide,” the service forecasted Wednesday, adding that chances of snow will continue tomorrow at higher elevations before “ending late Thursday night.”
The service’s weekend forecast — as Steamboat Ski Area plans to start up the gondola and additional lifts including Storm Peak Express — calls for partly sunny skies Friday and Saturday, with clouds rolling in Sunday.
“The chance for mountain snow will again develop early next week,” a forecast read.
